He also won the King George Chase on Best
He also won the King George Chase on Best Mate in 2002.He is the retained first jockey to the famous JP McManus who harbours the same ambitions in racing as McCoy. It is surely only a matter of time before one of his horses come's home in the Grand National and it will be the wish of everybody that Tony McCoy be on it.The National Hunt Season inNIKE FREE RUN,the UK and Ireland begins again the day after the last has finished, unlike in years gone by when Racing fans would have to wait until the Autumn for the start of the next campaign and Tony McCoy is sure to continue as the leading jockey and will no doubt continue to break even more records over the next twelve months.James Smith has worked in the sports industry for several years and has a wide range of experience in the field, ranging from sports marketing throughTN 2011 Homme to sports journalism. He acknowledges that his great friend and rival, Ruby Walsh, who is retained by both Paul Nicholls, champion trainer in the UK and Willie Mullins, champion trainer in Ireland, will often have the bigger race winners.Nonetheless, he lives in hope of more Cheltenham success but the one race he clearly wants above any other is the Aintree Grand National,a race that he has failed to win in fourteen attempts but is determined to eventually achieve his goal. His best however is 289, achieved in the 2001/2 season and he still has aspirations of riding 300 in one season.McCoy is 35 next month but has no intention of quitting, indeed at the conclusion of this year's season on 25th April; he was making plans to take four rides at Ludlow the following day, confirming that he has an unquenchable desire for the sport. It was fitting that McCoy ended the season on a high when winning the Bet5365 Cup at Sandown on the Carl Llewellyn trained Hennessy, in spectacular style - some saying it was the ride of the season.Earlier in the season the great man had ridden his 3000th winner, a figure unlikely ever to be reached again, he has rode more National Hunt winners that any other jockey in history and speculation is suggesting that he will continue to ride for a further ten years, after all, he will not be 35 until May 2009.He has ridden the winners of all the major races at the Cheltenham Festival but even he admits to wanting more, but with some envy he realises that as a freelance he will not always get the best of rides. Fortunately, as the best jockey around, he will always get one of the better rides in the race and his best performance in the race have come on three third place finishes. His big race wins so far have been the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Mr Mulligan in 1997, the Champion Hurdle also in 1997 on Make A Stand and Brave Inca in 2006. Although the National Hunt season runs all year round, the 2008/9 season officially ended on theNike Air Max Ltd Homme last weekend of April with the mercurial AP McCoy winning the jockey's title for the fourteenth successive year; he rode 186 winners in the season. He won the Queen Champion Chase on Ebredon Bleu in 2000 and the Irish Grand National in 2007 on Butlers Cabin. Visit his site to keep up to date with the latest Racing news and Racing Results..
